Greetings from Olympia,
The 2015 legislative session has begun and we can only hope it will end at 105 days. Things have certainly changed over the past few years. As you know, the Republicans have a majority in the state Senate and the House is now four seats closer to achieving parity. In the total Legislature, we have 74 Democrats and 73 Republicans. With this, everyone has to be at the table and "bipartisan" takes on a whole new meaning.
Since this is a long session, we'll be crafting a two-year budget for 2015-17. I do serve on two fiscal committees - House Appropriations and House Finance - so I'm looking forward to being involved in the early stages of budget and tax discussions. It's good to remember that the state is expecting $3 billion more in revenues for this next budget cycle, too.
Watch my first video update of the legislative session.
I look forward to keeping you up to date via email weekly. A new feature this year will be including my video updates in our communications. I have three videos for you this week and going forward, we will include a new clip each week. You can watch all of my video updates by logging onto my YouTube playlist here.

I assure you I will not mince words or give you talking points. You will get the real story here!
Watch this video update, where I talk about some of the policy discussions taking place in Olympia, including management of our emergency programs and proposals that would harm employers in our state. I also discuss national privacy concerns and my work to address them.
In this video, Rep. Chris Reykdal, D-Tumwater, and I discuss the Local Government Champions Caucus, a bipartisan group of legislators that works on solutions for some of the problems facing our cities and counties.
Sincerely,
Cary Condotta
